Happy New Year and welcome to this blog! I’m excited about this new opportunity that God has given me to share what He has taught me and continues to teach me on this journey of Christian living that I’ve been on for about 50 years.
My hope and prayer is that you will find encouragement and hope and some practical advice that you find helpful on your own journey as well. I may challenge you as well. All because my goal is to point you to Jesus.
I’ve titled this first post First Things First, because I believe the most important thing you can do in your life, if you haven’t already, is give your life to God. If you are unfamiliar with any aspect of Christianity you might of heard terms such as, “get saved”, ” become a christian” , “surrender your life to God” or other terms- it’s all of that. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son (Jesus) that whoever belives in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus died on the cross for you and for me, for our sins, so that we could live with Him in heaven for eternity. What a great gift! When we acknowledge that we are sinners, believe in God, accept the gift of His Son, Jesus, and receive Him into our lives, we become Christians and are a part of God’s family.
What do you do next? My subsequent posts will be all about different aspects of Christian living and growing. Stay tuned.
Or maybe you want to start off this New Year re-dedicating your life to God. Maybe you’ve gotten off track with God and you want to come back to Him- today is a great day to make that decision.
If you are ready to give your life to God or re-dedicate you life, you can say this prayer out loud:
Dear Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and I need a Saviour. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and you rose again on the 3rd day. I accept you as my Saviour and the Lord of my life. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to live for you the rest of my life. Thank you for writing my name in Your book of life. Amen.
If you’ve just prayed that prayer for the first time, welcome to the family of God! If you prayed to re-dedicate your life to God, welcome back!
I’ve been a Christian my whole life. Although I already knew Jesus, I remember asking Him into my heart and life when I was 7 years old, and I have never strayed from Him. I am convinced that living a life with God at the center is the best choice a person can make. I’ve gone through many challenges, difficulties, problems, etc. in my life- all with God right by my side. God does not promise us an easy life, He does promise to be with us. One of His many names is Emnanuel, which means, God With Us.
Thank you for stopping by today. I’m glad you are here. Please let me know any questions or comments you have, or how I can pray for you below.
Blessings,
Desiree
