John 3:16- “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. “
This week is what we call Holy Week. It’s also called Passion Week. It’s one of the most significant weeks in Jesus’ life because it is the last week of Jesus’s life on earth before He resurrects from the grave. It started yesterday with Palm Sunday when Jesus came riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, and the people waved palm branches at Him and shouted, “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
I would like to encourage us all to remember, reflect, read, pause, ponder, etc. on this special holy week. We are all busy and have many things to do, and I know for myself, I don’t want this special week to pass by without reflecting on the importance of it. Below is a brief synopsis of each day, from the Sunday before Jesus was crucified to Resurrection Sunday. You can read more about this week in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.)
Sunday– Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a colt. The people waved palm branches at Him and shouted, “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
Monday– Jesus curses the fig tree, cleanses the temple, is questioned by the chief priests, scribes, and elders.
Tuesday– Jesus preaches at the Mount of Olives.
Wednesday– Jesus is anointed with oil, and Judas goes to the chief priests to conspire with them about how to betray Jesus.
Thursday- Jesus celebrates Passover with His disciples, prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, is betrayed by Judas, and is condemned to death.
Friday– Jesus is crucified, taken down from the cross, and placed in a tomb.
Saturday– Silent
Sunday– JESUS RESURRECTS! HE IS RISEN!
I can’t wait to celebrate His resurrection this coming Sunday, but I will be reflecting on the importance of each day of this Holy Week. He willingly died and gave His life so that we could live with Him eternally. He did this because He loves us soo much.
Youversion Bible App is a great place to read and watch a video about this week. Again, you can read about it in the Gospels: (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).
If you don’t normally attend a Good Friday service, can I encourage you to attend one. If you don’t normally attend church on Sunday, can I encourage you to attend this coming Sunday and celebrate what He has done for us.
Don’t forget to say Thank You! and
Don’t forget to remember:
Because He Lives, we can face tomorrow!
Many blessings,
Desiree
