Pointing to Jesus

Pointing people to Jesus with encouragement and tangible ways to grow in their Christian faith.

Invitation Accepted

Galatians 2:20- I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

What does it mean that God lives in us, and how should that change the way we live? God dwells in us by His Spirit. His Holy Spirit. That means that He is always there. He is always  present. Where we go  He goes. What we watch, He watches. What we say,  He hears. What we read, He sees. I don’t want to make Him have to turn his head, close His eyes, or cover His ears.

I Corinthians 3:16- Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? When we accept Jesus to come into our lives, it should have a profound impact on the way we live, the places we go, the movies we watch, the shows we watch, the books we read, the music we listen to, etc.. The very fact that the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our hearts and lives when we become Christians should change the way we live.  There should be conviction in our spirit about every single part of our lives.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses. The Holy Spirit helps us live a fruitful life full of the fruits of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us use our gifts. The Holy Spirit helps us understand the Bible so that we can know who God is so we can do what He says. This should all be happening because He lives in us. He dwells in us. He doesn’t just visit for a while and leave. He stays.

The Holy Spirit does not force us to live a holy life, but He desires us to. He is grieved when we don’t.  The Bible tells us not to grieve the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. This is a verse in a section of verses that is talking about new life in Christ.

The way we live should reflect Christ living in us. The Holy Spirit will always lead us to holiness. We will never live perfectly, but we can live purposefully. We can live purposefully because He lives in us!

Many blessings,

Desiree
