Ephesians 6:10- Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.
This verse is the beginning of a section of scripture that talks about the armor of God. We are in a spiritual battle, and the enemy is relentless in his pursuit to steal, kill, and destroy our lives. We need to stay strong in God in order to fight the enemy.
The Greek word for strong in this verse is endunamoo, which means to make strong, to strengthen, or to be empowered. We are strengthened by God when we are in Him. We do not have to be strong by ourselves. We depend on God to strengthen us. In fact, the Bible tells us we can’t do anything without God. John 15:4,5- “Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit for apart from me you can do nothing.
If we want to be strong and stay strong in God, we have to stay close to Him. We stay close to Him by reading the Bible, talking to Him, going to church, listening to praise and worship music, even when we don’t feel like it. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to fill us up, and the spiritual disciplines listed above help us to stay filled up with the Holy Spirit rather than be filled up with ourselves.
God wants us to be strong in Him. We are strengthened and empowered by Him when we live our lives in Him. He wants to empower us for every battle that we face.
We’re not always going to feel strong. This is when we have to remember that our strength comes from God and ask Him to strengthen us and rely on Him and trust that He will strengthen us as we live our lives in Him and do what He says. Do something everyday to get in the presence of God.
Psalm 73:26 – “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Exodus 15:2 – The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
1 Chronicles 16:11 – Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!
Nehemiah 8:10 – “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Remember, our strength comes from Him as we are in Him.
Many blessings,
