Matthew 5:8- Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
To be pure in heart means to be clean or cleansed in our inner being of our desires, thoughts, feelings, affections, motives, mind, and principles. It is not just not doing wrong outward actions, but it is also being right on the inside. When our thoughts and motives are pure, it is going to be easier to live right outwardly. It begins with our hearts.
Psalm 51:10- “Create in me a clean heart oh God and remew a right spirit within me.”
Psalm 24:3,4- “Who may ascend unto the hill of the Lord? and who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfuly.
James 4:8- “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded.”
God is the One who creates a clean heart in us by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can’t have a pure heart without Him.
When we have a pure heart, Matthew 5:8 says that we will see God. To see God means that here on earth, we will see His works all around us. We will be in His glory and awestruck by His closeness. We will understand Him better, be closer to Him, and be satisfied in Him. We will also see Him when we get to heaven. We don’t have to wait until we get to heaven to experience and see God all around us.
Let’s ask God to give us pure hearts so we can see Him.
Many blessings,
Desiree
