Pointing to Jesus

Pointing people to Jesus with encouragement and tangible ways to grow in their Christian faith.

It’s in the Daily

Luke 9:23 –And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

I’m taking a break this week from the Beatitudes, and I’m posting on part of a message that I recently spoke at a women’s gathering. It has to do with the choices we make daily. These daily choices are crucial to living a strong and victorious christian life.

The first daily choice we need to make is to choose Kingdom over culture. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” We need to put God first on the throne of our lives and not let culture shape the way we think and act.

The second choice we need to make daily is to choose the Word over the world. Colossians 3:16- “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing Psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” We need to read the Word of God, study it, and live it.

The third daily choice we need to make is to choose Faith over fear. 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith and not by sight.” Hebrews 11:1- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  We need to daily choose to believe that God is working and moving and is who He says He is, and not live in fear by what we see with our eyes.

The fourth daily choice we need to make is to choose Freedom over flesh. Romans 6:22- “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end eternal life.”  Romans 7:18- In my flesh dwells no good thing ”  The flesh wants us to do what feels good. Freedom produces Godly fruit.

I’m going to add one more that wasn’t in my notes – the fifth daily choice we need to make is Worship over worry.  Psalm 71:8– “My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.” The book of Psalms has many verses on Worship and Praise. Choose to fill your heart and mind daily with worship and praise music. It will have an impact on the way you think, feel, and act.

Let’s daily make these choices that will make us strong in the Lord and produce lasting and Godly fruit. They also are weapons against the enemy. I am praying  for you.

Many blessings,

Desiree
